Since the 2000's data has been sourced from NAFI and NTFES fire management systems and validated to produce a fire history dataset. The NT Fire History dataset is published publicly and complies with the AFAC Fire History Guideline Fire history data dictionary (https://www.afac.com.au/insight/doctrine/article/current/fire-history-data-dictionary). The dataset is also referenced in the National Historical Bushfire Boundaries Digital Atlas of Australia (digital.atlas.gov.au/datasets/digital atlas: historical-bushfire-boundaries-3/about). Ignition and Extinguish Dates: In this dataset, the ignition_date and extinguish_date fields are populated from the first and last dates of the mapping_period for each FSID generated internally from the CDU NAFI dataset. These dates represent the period of change observed by Sentinel and MODIS satellite passes over the incident area.
